Waverley Council T&C

Residential Parking Permit

  • Only a resident in the RPS can apply for a Residential Parking Permit which entitles the holder to unrestricted parking where signs display "Permit Holders Excepted" together with the area to which their permit applies.
  • Private vehicles require NSW registration to the current Waverley area address.
  • Residential Parking Permits cannot be issued to a business or business owner.
  • Permits are not available for a truck, bus, tram, tractor, trailer (boat or caravan) or a motor vehicle over 4.5 tonnes.
  • A maximum of three residential permits may be issued to any residence (conditions apply), however this is reduced by the number of off-street parking spaces available for that household.

Conditions of use

  • A digital permit may only be used on the nominated vehicle.
  • Beach permits cannot be issued to a motor vehicle longer than 6 meters.
  • Digital permits are not transferable. Permits can only be transferred to a vehicle registered in the same name as the original permit holder.
  • A digital permit entitles the holder to unrestricted parking only where signs state ‘Permit Holders Excepted’ together with the area number to which the permit applies. Aside from this exemption, permits do not provide any right to park contrary to the Australian Road Rules (e.g., Disabled Parking Areas, Commercial Parking Areas, Clearways, and Special Events).
  • Permits cannot be issued to light registered trailers (e.g., box, caravan, and boat trailers) or any vehicle longer than 6 metres or weighing more than 4.5 tonnes.
  • It is the responsibility of the resident/permit holder to renew their permit and ensure it is valid when parking in areas signposted ‘Permit Holders Excepted’.

  • The issue of a digital permit does not guarantee the availability of a parking space to the holder.
  • Misuse of the digital permit is an offence. The digital permit may be revoked by an Authorised Officer should there be any breach of these conditions.
  • In the event of relocation to another residence, the disposal or sale of the nominated vehicle, or off-street parking at the residence becoming available, the digital permit must be cancelled immediately by the resident or permit holder.
  • Permits are not refundable. No fee is refundable once a digital permit is issued.
  • Council may withdraw or cancel permits at its discretion.

The following constitute an offence in a permit parking space or area

  • Parking without a valid digital permit for longer than the period (time limit) shown on the signs.
  • The fraudulent use of digital permits.
  • Use of a digital permit not applicable to the area, vehicle, or address.
